Crave Maternity have installed specialist fashion stock control from Touchretail to improve stock management and reporting at their online and retail business.
Maternity Fashion
Crave Maternity are a unique business with a fantastic concept – which is fulfilled through their great maternity fashion range and peerless customer service. Crave Maternity approached Touchretail with a specific business model – not the normal retail business. With a combination of online sales and wholesale sales through specific channels the stock system has to be very flexible. Touchretail were able to provide a stock control solution using the standard Rapidstock fashion stock system – ensuring consistent customer support post installation.
Multi-channel multi-location
You can see Crave Maternity designs and ranges either on their website or through selected retailers such as John Lewis. So Crave required a system that could easily cope with stock allocations to and sales from the various channels. Touchretail’s Rapidstock fashion-matrix inventory system is able to handle multi-channel, multi-location stock control as standard. Which meant that the ‘standard’ system was able to handle Crave’s business requirements – and keep their accountant happy – without any bespoke software modification.

Pre-Christmas Revenue was boosted for several independent fashion retailers who used the Touchretail Gift Card system. As usual we received a surge of requests for new Gift Card systems in November, when retailers were looking to replace paper Gift Vouchers. The Gift cards are particularly useful when relatives or friends of your customers want to buy them a present but not sure what exactly to buy.
Gift Cards More Secure
One of the attractions of Gift Cards is that there is no value on the card until it is activated at the point of sale (POS). Unlike paper Gift Vouchers, which have a face value as soon as they are printed, the Gift Card has to be topped up with an amount at the POS. This makes Gift Cards a more secure solution in the store, as theft of a Gift Card from the counter is of no benefit to the thief – regardless of which side of the counter the thief is!
Top Independents Choosing Gift Cards
Some of the top independent retailers who introduced Gift Cards from Touchretail’s GCAS system before Christmas 2011 were:
Credit on Card
Another great use for Gift Cards is to replace the traditional Credit Note. Credit for returned goods can be topped up onto a Gift Card – the customer can then either use the Card at a later date, or even use it as a Gift! And because reports are available on outstanding Gift Cards at any time, the retailer knows exactly what outstanding liability there is.
Loyalty Cards
Another use for Card technology is to identify your customers as part of Touchretail’s new Loyalty System. Cards that are issued under the GCAS system can be used both for Gift Cards and Loyalty Cards. Further details on the latest in Customer Loyalty software will soon be available from Touchretail.

Searches and Purchases Growth YOY Q3 2011
The British Retail Consortium (BRC) have published their latest BRC-Google Online Retail Monitor figures for the third quarter 2011. The figures compare the equivalent period in 2010, and show a vigorous 35% increase in online searches.
Online Sales still outstripping instore sales growth
Within this, searches for online only (pureplay) retailers increased by 71%, while those for multi-channel retailers rose 26%. The purchases figure shows an increase of 10%, suggesting that there is a lot of research and price comparison before completing the transaction. However, when compared to instore purchases, which only show a marginal increase of less than 1%, online sales growth is still outstripping general retail by some way. Read the rest of this entry »
