Barkers Department Store has completed its EPOS roll-out by the installation of Toshiba ST-A10 EPOS terminals in the recently refurbished 200-seat main store restaurant and the Arcade Coffee Shop.

E-commerce and multi-store integration

The Restaurant and Coffee Shop EPOS tills are integrated into Barkers company-wide system, which includes EPOS tills across all departments of the main store and the Furnishings store, including the Terrace Cafe which also had a complete re-fit and re-design recently. Online integration between EPOS tills, back office reporting and a busy e-commerce website at Barkers is an important aspect of the installation.

Barkers IT Manager and Accountant Robert Baker said:

‘We are delighted with the compact and cost-effective ST-A10s from Toshiba Tec and the speed at which the system was implemented by Touchretail. Our previous tills only kept one months worth of data. Now we can compare sales with the previous years and weeks. The savings we have made both in terms of human error and in sales reporting have been incredible.’

Association of Independent Stores

Barkers are a member of AIS – the Association of Independent Stores, and were keen to work with a company that was already recommended by other AIS member stores. Touchretail supply a combination of Retail Accounts accounting and management reporting, Toshiba EPOS terminals, and Touchretail unit stock control and sales reporting to over 30 AIS member stores throughout the UK and Ireland.

Accounting Software for Pearsons Department Stores

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Pearsons Enfield at ChristmasPearsons Department Stores, now part of the Morleys Stores Group, have recently implemented the Retail Accounts accounting and management reporting software from Touchretail.

Pearsons of Enfield has been a famous Department Store since 1903, and along with the more recent store in Bishops Stortford has developed a tradition as a family-friendly place to shop. Morleys Stores group acquired Pearsons in December 2010, at which time Bernard Dreesmann, executive chairman of Morleys, said the acquisition of Pearsons was a “perfect strategic and geographical fit” and reassured staff and customers that the department store would retain its name and traditional character. The two Pearsons stores bring the Morleys Stores Group to a total of 8 Department Stores in and around London.

Group-level Reporting

Morleys Stores were keen to implement at Pearsons the same accounting and management reporting software that is used throughout the rest of the group. Touchretail have successfully incorporated both store-level accounting at Pearsons and group-level reporting at the main Morleys Stores system, also implemented and supported by Touchretail.

Ian Willis, Financial Director of Touchretail, commented:

“The transition of Pearson’s back office procedures from their old Navision system to Retail Accounts has been completed satisfactorily.  The reconciliation of daily sales and takings for each till, and the registration and approval of suppliers’ invoices are now fully implemented, bringing them in to line with the Morleys’ standard group procedures.  Retail Accounts is very scalable and additional branches or companies can be added on at any time.”
