Searches Growth YOY Q3 2011

Searches and Purchases Growth YOY Q3 2011

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) have published their latest BRC-Google Online Retail Monitor figures for the third quarter 2011. The figures compare the equivalent period in 2010, and show a vigorous 35% increase in online searches.

Online Sales still outstripping instore sales growth

Within this, searches for online only (pureplay) retailers increased by 71%, while those for multi-channel retailers rose 26%. The purchases figure shows an increase of 10%, suggesting that there is a lot of research and price comparison before completing the transaction. However, when compared to instore purchases, which only show a marginal increase of less than 1%, online sales growth is still outstripping general retail by some way. (more…)

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

Guest Blog by Steph Staszko

Slow economic recovery could be to blame for office supplies retailers feeling the pinch. Despite the fact online retail is booming, online office product merchants are not among those online retailers whose sales are booming.

May Retail Sales Dip Through Uncertainty

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Uncertain_retail_salesConsumers’ uncertainty about jobs and income was blamed for the dip in UK retail sales figures for May, according to latest report from the BRC (British Retail Consortium). Within this figure there are as always variations, and while online sales growth of non-store non-food items slowed, the year-on-year increase here is still a healthy 10.4%. Sales through mobile devices continue to increase.
