With a presence in over 30 Top Shop stores this has enabled Motel to consolidate their relationship with Arcadia group, while not affecting their own retail store and online business MotelRocks.com.

Motel commissioned Touchretail
to produce an automated sales and stock tracking system for their Top Shop concessions because the time taken to send barcode labels back to head office then scan them in on the old system was causing stock-outs and missed sales opportunities. Touchretail advised Motel on correct barcode registration procedures, then set about the complex interface to the Arcadia EPOS system. How it works
Motel create their product in Touchretail’s Rapidstock inventory system, 
which creates a data feed to a managed Arcadia database. The data sent to Arcadia’s EPOS contains product details, effective date, relevant Arcadia stores reference, and Sterling and Euro prices. If Motel delete the products, or if there has been no product movement or history at Arcadia for 3 months, the products are automatically deleted from the Arcadia database.
The sales data is collected by logging on to Arcadia’s extranet system. The Touchretail sales import module checks for unrecognised barcodes, and also checks store totals against a sum of transactions for each store. Additionally a file total is produced and checked against Arcadia’s total, so that data integrity is validated prior to processing the sales data into Rapidstock. All this is done ‘in the background’ by Touchretail’s import module – Motel simply see the sales figures and updated stock levels by style, colour and size.
