Taking November and December total ecommerce sales together, the figures for 2010 show an increase of over 30% on the same two months in December 2009, states the eTracker 100 report published by MetaPack. This compares very favourably to instore sales for the same period, which by latest reports seem to have been only marginally higher in 2010 than 2009.
Large fluctuation
November online sales showed a 38% increase, while the final result for December was a more modest 26% increase – but still impressive bearing in mind the snow and ice that played havoc with pre-Christmas shopping.
