For more than 60 years the head office and main outlet has been based at King Street, Castle Douglas, with additional branches in Dumfries, Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright added over the years. 

In addition to the latest ladies and menswear fashions, Gowans have additional premises in Castle Douglas; one for the supply of floor coverings, another solely dealing with curtains, blinds, dress fabrics and household bedding products; whilst the latest addition is a premises showcasing beds and bedsteads and a range of mirrors and framed pictures.

Gowans of Castle Douglas have installed Retail Accounts Department Store software from Touchretail to provide retail accounting and management reporting for their multi-location business.
