As one of the hosting venues for the 2006 Rugby World Cup, the Millennium Stadium decided to upgrade their in-house EPOS system to gain better stock and sales analysis, cope well with match day trading peak times, and to implement a system that was capable of interfacing with the busy WRU website.

Touchretail implemented their Rapidstock back office system only weeks before the kick-off, and the new Rugby World Cup merchandise arrived only a couple of days before the first match played at the Millennium – an exciting Wales-Australia encounter. The extra staff drafted in for the game were given last minute training and all went without hitch – apart from the Wallabies beating the Welsh side.
The speed at which stock can be created on the Rapidstock system enabled the last minute delivery to be priced up and put out in record time, and Touchretail’s instore stock replenishment facility was key to keeping the fans happy with their purchases of memorabilia and replica kits.
The internet is an important arm of the merchandise department and Neil Latimer, retail manager, wanted to make sure fulfilment of orders and customer satisfaction were of utmost priority. Touchretail utilises Salespush data transfer technology that keeps Website orders, EPOS and back office data synchronised online.
