09.02.09 - Camp Hopson go live with 'Retail Accounts'
The start of the new financial year on 1st February saw Camp Hopson go live with Touchretail’s ‘Retail Accounts’ accounting and management reporting software. After 3 months of system evaluation on a ‘training’ system, Camp Hopson were confident that the system go-live would run smoothly.
Set in the heart of Newbury in Berkshire, Camp Hopson have a 40,000 sq.ft. Department store and a separate 20,000 sq.ft. Furniture store; the Group’s businesses are completed by a funeral directing business and a removals and storage business with 25,000 sq.ft. of containerised storage in Newbury and Dorchester.
After a lengthy consultation process, Richard Tavener (finance director at Camp Hopson) recommended the appointment of Touchretail to implement their Retail Accounts accounting and management reporting software for the Group’s retail business. Richard comments: ‘Touchretail were able to demonstrate their knowledge of our business requirements, and their ability to support our administrative section in the run up to going live with Retail Accounts.'
‘The evaluation software that was offered gave us the opportunity to fully test the system and highlight any issues prior to our scheduled go-live date. This has enabled us to work to our project plan in a structured and timely manner, and to approach what is a daunting task with confidence. We are very pleased with Touchretail’s hands-on approach and attention to detail.’
In addition to the usual ledgers and reports, Retail Accounts has several electronic interfaces at Camp Hopson, including BACS payments and interfaces to their existing EPOS and furniture unit stock systems. Touchretail were also commissioned to produce some bespoke reports for Camp Hopson to complement the management reports available from the Retail Accounts system.

07.02.09 - Remote Access at Serene Order
Being able to access your information from wherever you might be with an internet connection brings mobility and flexibility to organisations large and small. Serene Order’s requirement for keeping track of critical stock level information from multiple locations is easily achieved through Touchretail’s hosted system.
Before implementing our hosted solution at Serene Order, stock control access was quite limited. Rapidstock was installed on 2 local networked PC’s with the company data kept on site. Whilst this model works well, there are many areas where complications can occur. Failing hardware and network problems can cause system downtime, an expensive exercise for a multi-channel retailer.
Touchretail remove these possible complications by hosting your software and data on secure robust servers located in a controlled data environment. Data can be accessed securely from any internet connection so in the event of hardware failure you can just use a different computer without installing software and resorting to your last data backup.
Serene Order’s transition went extremely smoothly with the hosted system up and running within the hour.

03.02.09 - Zee & Co Hosted Platform
After recently re-launching the Zee & Co website, it soon became apparent that a more robust multi-user platform was needed to help streamline the multi-channel retailers back office operations.
Zee & Co’s requirement was for a system where multiple concurrent users could login from any location with internet access, and be presented with the same information as they usually get at their desks. Once the ticket printing system had been configured to print tickets from any location, it took just a few hours to move Zee & Co’s entire backend operations comprising of a menswear and ladieswear system, onto the Touchretail secure hosted platform.
The move couldn’t have happened at a better time with the system going live 9am Monday the 2nd of February, the snowy day that London ground to a halt. Key staff members at Zee & Co who couldn’t make it to the warehouse could now access their data from their home computers.
Zee & Co were impressed by the smooth transition of the move and the new functionality the hosted system has presented to them. This highlights what taking advantage of the latest technologies can do to help your business in difficult trading times and in an age where remote working is becoming increasingly popular.Zee & Co have recently installed Touchretail’s EPoS solution in their Loughton Men’s store and plan to continue the roll out through 2009, replacing old technology with Touchretail’s latest retail innovations.

02.01.09 - New Féraud store opens in Dublin
Located just off Dublin’s famous Grafton Street shopping area, the latest Féraud store opened in time for pre-Christmas trade. After a complete store re-fit, the Duke Street store now boasts the same minimalist décor as other Féraud stores across the world – matt white walls, black panels and a touch of carmine red.
Project manager Kay Leahy researched several potential IT system suppliers before opting for Touchretail. Knowledge of the trade, established support services, value for money, and the ability to implement latest technology solutions gave Kay the confidence to award Touchretail the contract.
The Féraud store in Dublin is operated as part of a chain of stores from Ennis in Co. Clare in the west of Ireland. By implementing a Hosted Rapidstock system, Touchretail enable the store owners to monitor the business online from anywhere. This means that stock can be booked in by system operators in Ennis, while barcode tickets are produced at the store. Management reports and EPOS till figures can be produced at either location, so the store manager can discuss anything with the rest of the management team at any time, remotely and online.
The other stores in the Ennis chain are now to be updated to Touchretail’s Rapidstock system early in 2009.

01.01.09 - Botterills introduce fuel accounts and upgrade warehouse system
With around 50 Spar stores across central Scotland, Botterills are one of the leading independent convenience retailers in the country. After the recent acquisition of a site in Ayr on the busy Prestwick (Airport) Road, Botterills now operate their first fuel site.
Although the site previously had its own fuel billing system, there was no head office interface. As suppliers of the Retail Accounting System for the entire Group, Touchretail were tasked with developing a solution to enable head office to monitor and analyse the Fuel Accounts. The result is a bolt-on module to the Retail Accounting Customer Accounts which now enables Botterills head office to record every fuel transaction, including analysis of fuel type and mileage – both of which are stored on the VAT invoice.
Stock control at the Botterills warehouse has become more complex as the Group has grown. Touchretail have made customer-specified modifications to the Warehouse Stock System which will enable better sell-through of stock, in particular to utilise replacement or substitute lines for lines that are either no longer available or out of stock.
Bespoke software modifications by Touchretail enable clients to gain maximum benefit from initial software investment made as trading methods develop over time.
