The original Childsplay store in Ilford houses collections from an amazing array of designer brands for the age ranges from birth to 8 years. Across the road a separate store under the name ICE stocks the same designer brands for ‘young adults’ aged 9 to 16 years.

Requirement and Challenges
The multiplicity of cost prices, retail prices and VAT rates across different sizes of the same product is a well-known problem for childrenswear retailers. A bigger problem with Childsplay’s legacy EPOS system was the unreliability of the integration and updating of stock between the instore system and their online sales – especially at busy Sale times.
Customer satisfaction and order fulfilment is key to Childsplay’s success, so the ability to integrate their EPOS system with a range of different potential website platforms, and in particular with Magento, was an important aspect when evaluating EPOS and back office systems.
The TRIMS Importer was used to pick up all Childsplay’s Products from their Magento website. TRIMS POS was installed onto the existing POS hardware to enable test transactions and training to be arranged prior to go-live. Test transactions were also made to Childsplay’s staging website so that all parties were confident of the data integrity and updating between TRIMS back office, POS and the Magento e-commerce.
